Delhi Metro is constructing 159.5 km long track under phase III, out of which 53.8 km of this network will be sound proof. This will all be underground.
With this pioneering step, the old residential structures, heritage and hospital buildings are anticipated to be secured. The underground sections of Phase III such as Line 6, 7 & 8 will have Mass Spring System (MSS) in place.
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Spokesperson Anuj Dayal said, “MSS will be used at locations within 25 m. of the horizontal distance of the tunnel and within 15 m. of the top of the tunnel.” The reason for doing this to bring down the vibrations & disturbance from trains running on these tracks, he added.
